Flow Nice and Friends - the EP

EP Intro

(Featuring: N Excess the Voice)

The intro was done when we finally finished the EP, originally it was going to be some spoken word over the beat, but after a few of the drum tracks got mixed it was begging for the classic recipe of flows and turntables.

Neighbors

(Featuring: St. John the Gift, DJ Seda Seamless, Context)

We all have them, neighbors who look at you a little longer than you'd prefer, who covet your goods as their own...basically neighbors you'd wish you could call anything but neibhors. This songs dedicated to them, those neighbors who for some reason or another can't accept the harmony of livng near someone doper than them.

Malt Break Beats

(Featuring: Davi J, DJ Seda Seamless, Context)

This song was inspired by more of a mixtape style of track...(particularly DJ Green Lantern). Basic song structure, few changes, reptitiive samples and basic hooks. This the type of beat to throw on to get some freestyles going and sound good when your doing it. The lyrics were composed in that way, with some editing and re writes involved but the spirit of "off the top" witticisim is there.

Thinking of You

(Featuring: Lyrics by Jus B, Turntable and Beat by DJ Seda Seamless and Guitar by Tony C'De Baca)

This song was kind of the essence of this album. That is-no shape, no outline no concrete idea was ever put in place, we kind of just started with a solid break, that awesome guitar riff from Tony C'De Baca and went from there. (a comprehensive writing teachers nightmare) It turned out to be a conversation between the proverbial musician and his object of affection, music. A lot of initial feedback was "its too long for an instrumental" and "its too repetitive on the samples" but the too long and too much was intentional. Its a concept track, no meant for anyone that doesnt like it. It is what it is. No parameters. This track is a feeling and a conversation...wasnt made with pop appeal in mind.

Different Sides of Life

(Featuring: Davi J, Jus B, Context-music by Fritoe ∏)

Fish use to strum this melody on his guitar every time the clock struck 2:38am, our conversations died and the beer reserves had been expired. Finally we said (as we do often) We should make a song out of that....fast forward 4 months, we got this great song, music written by Fish, with no lyrics or concept...everyone who heard the music was inspired to write a verse, but none of the verses were coherent or had a common theme, so we thought. We decided to just lay down the three verses and link them together with the hook...after much thought, we realized...it was simply a song about different peoples thoughts and perspectives on life...plain and simple.

Naive

(Featuring: Flow Nice-which is--Inverse and Funkshin...a.k.a. Seda Seamless and Kid Eagle)

This beat was on reserve for the new Flow Nice album but seeing as how Funkshin was still out in Cali for school, that project kept getting pushed back so when he finally got a break from school we pulled out this track and wrote to it. The hook pretty much dictated the verses and the message but this is one of those songs you can listen to when your mad, sad or just need something to listen to. Dedicated to all the "nay sayers" out there, the more you discourage hopefully the more it encourages. By the Way, that voice on the Chorus between the two verses is none other than Rodolfo "Corky" Gonzales, chicano rights movement leader.

The Saint

(Featuring: Lyrics by Context, Music and Additional Vocals by Tony C'De Baca)

Possibility

(Featuring: Seda)

This song is a self reflecting song examing a shift in perpspectives on love. Its a journey that a single, self centered young man begins when he meets the woman of his dreams he never expected to find. It calls for a readjustment in life and underlines the risk involved with emotional investments. High risk yields high returns. BOOM

Focused

(Featuring: Lyrics by Davi J, Guitar by Frito ∏)

Outro- Flave City Outro

(Featuring: St. John the Gift, Davi J, Jus B, Context and additional lyrics by DJ Seda Seamless)
This beat started at point A and ended at point G. (It was septalateral) We were just trying to get the album done at this point...an e-mail was sent out with the attached outro beat saying "sum up who you are and mention your name so people can place your name to your voice"...Then the beat changed and verse order changed and lives were threatened but the outro is a nice summation of all the styles, messages and motives on this album. Its Flave City.
