World Records Music: Flow Nice & Friends

Flow Nice

-The Group
The Flow Nice Foundation a.k.a. Flow Nice, hails from the City Different, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Formed in 2002, Flow Nice members Luke (Funkshin), and Matt (Inverse) were childhood buddies who shared the same love of that good type hip hip. Over the next couple of summers Flow Nice released various singles, demos and other mix tapes featuring their songs and distributed them to a suprisingly thriving underground scene in Santa Fe. In 2003 Flow Nice began performing live shows around the Albuquerque area. To give their performances more energy, they opted for a live band to play their music instead of a DAT machine or CD, so they enlisted the help of another upcoming band from Santa Fe, La Junta. Together the two groups were able to complement styles and deliver memorable performances. The groups are still performing monthly in Albuquerque and are currently in the process of putting together a tour of the South West states.

-The Music
Flow Nice creates a smooth blend of Hip Hop containing laid back jazz style melodies, latin style percussion and shoulder shaking breaks that integrates turntblism and lyrics for an end result of a much needed return of truly Nice Hip Hop. The music style and sound has been influenced by the likes of Tribe Called Quest, People Under the Stairs and De La Soul. In addition Flow Nice incorporates turntablism and samples as instruments which lends to the progress of their sound as a new style, rooted in the classics of the genre.

DJ Seamless a.k.a. C-T a.k.a. Seda - Turntablist/ Producer

M. Seda began DJing around 10th grade in High School. He learned and looked up to one of the most recognizable DJs to come out of the Southwest. From there he studied the art of cutting, scractching mixing and stunting. It was an on again off again hobby until Seda attended college in California and realized to stand out, he needed to develop a style all his own. He began mastering his art and DJing at local college bars in the area. Eventually he put out a mix tape titled "Perseus" Since then Seda DJs with La Junta and Flow Nice as well as works on most of the production for both groups. He plans on releasing a new mix in Winter '05.
